Essential Oils, Absolutes and Concretes
are obtained from plants and are up to 100 times the concentration
of the natural plant. In most cases the essential oil is a
product of an absolute, which in turn is a product of a concrete
which is obtained from the plant.
***CAUTION:
It is Highly recommended that you become familiar and aware
of ALL precautions associated with the use of these product.
Although some essential oils can be used internally, we offer
our product FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY!!
ESSENTIAL
OILS: Volatile oils that occur in plants and in
general give to the plants their characteristic odors, flavors,
or other such properties. Essential oils are found in various
parts of the plant body (in the seeds, flowers, bark, or leaves)
and are also concentrated in certain special cells or groups
of cells (glands). Because of their properties, they are widely
used in perfumes, flavorings, and medicines. Their chemical
composition differs: A great many, for example, are principally
terpenes, compounds of carbon and hydrogen. Others contain
aldehydes, ketones, or phenols. Oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen
are present in compounds in others. In general, they are complex
mixtures. They are obtained from the plant in various ways,
depending upon the nature of the part in which they occur-by
compression, by distillation with steam, by dissolving the
oils out (extraction) or absorbing them, and by pressure and
maceration. We use them in perfume, cosmetics and soaps.
ABSOLUTE:
An absolute is a prepared perfume material. They are highly
concentrated, entirely alcohol-soluble and usually liquid
perfume material. They are obtained by alcohol-extraction
of concretes or other hydrocarbon types of extracts or from
fat-extracts of plant materials. Absolutes can be solid or
semi-solid. We use them in perfume, cosmetics and soaps.
CONCRETE:
Extracted from non-resinous or low resinous natural raw materials
in a method of preparation similar to that of the resinoids.
The natural raw materials from which concretes are prepared
are almost exclusively of vegetable, origin (bark, flower,
herb, leaf, root, etc.). Concretes are thus representative
of the natural raw material in the sense that they contain
all the hydrocarbon-soluble matter, while water and water-extractive
matter have been left out. Plant tissue, fibers, cellulose,
etc., have also been eliminated. The resulting concrete is
soluble only to a certain degree in perfume oils and other
liquid perfume materials. They are usually solid, waxy, non-crystalline
masses. We use them in preparing cosmetics and soaps.
EXTRACTS:
Extracted from non-resinous or low resinous natural raw materials.
